Guild Wars 3 is announced, but plenty is still unknown. This page tracks what is unconfirmed and clearly separates it from the sourced facts on what we know.
Before the reveal, ArenaNet posted jobs to build maps and environments in Unreal Engine 5 for an unannounced project. Every Guild Wars game so far runs on the studio’s in house engine. The announcement did not name an engine, so Unreal Engine 5 is a strong reading but not confirmed for Guild Wars 3.
Source: PCGamesN job listing report↗The only role named so far is the Vaelwarden, which is the player fantasy rather than a class. ArenaNet has not shown a profession list or said how build making maps onto the new action combat. Expect this in a later gameplay deep dive.
Guild Wars 2 is buy to play with no subscription. ArenaNet has not said whether Guild Wars 3 follows the same model. It has confirmed only that pricing details come later in 2026 and into 2027.
Source: ArenaNet press release↗The beta is set for Fall 2027 and no release date exists. Any year you see attached to launch right now is an estimate, including ours. See the release date page for the reasoning.
Guild Wars 2 is still getting updates, with the Visions of Eternity expansion mid rollout. ArenaNet has not laid out how the two games sit together long term, or whether progress or cosmetics connect.
Days before Summer Game Fest, a sudden web domain change set off speculation, with fans rallying around the line "we waited 10,000 years."
Source: GamesRadar+↗ArenaNet posted the same line across its Guild Wars channels: "The wind stirs. The world shifts. Stand ready." Asked if it pointed to Guild Wars 3, the studio gave a no comment rather than a denial.
Source: The FPS Review↗At Summer Game Fest on June 5, the trailer ended the guessing. Guild Wars 3 is real, on PC and PlayStation 5, with a Fall 2027 beta.
